Toronto -1½ +180 over Seattle

10:00 PM ET, Climate Pledge Arena. Both teams come into tonight off losses where they gave up five goals, Toronto's 5-2 defeat in Calgary on Monday snapping a four-game win streak, Seattle's 5-1 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday. The records say Seattle is the better team right now at 7-4-1 against Toronto's 7-5-2, but the underlying numbers say the opposite. At five-on-five Toronto controls 46.87 percent of expected goals to Seattle's 41.38, and the Kraken's shot share (41.61 percent) sits near the bottom of the league. Seattle's record is built on percentages that don't hold up: they've scored on more than 27 percent of their high-danger chances while getting out-chanced most nights, and that kind of run always comes back to earth.

Toronto's stock is down after Calgary, and the day-to-day news on Kirill Marchenko hasn't helped, which is exactly why this price is available. Seattle, meanwhile, is priced like a team that just keeps winning at home, except they've now lost their career scoring leader Jared McCann for ten weeks and they just got run out of their own building by Minnesota. The moneyline around -120 is dead money for a plus-price player, so the puck line is the vehicle: -1½ at +180 pays for the gap between how these two teams actually play, not how their records look. Anthony Stolarz is the likely starter for Toronto against Philipp Grubauer, likely for Seattle, and there's no goaltending edge there to rescue the home side.

Seattle has had three days off to Toronto's one, and that's real, but rest doesn't fix a team that gets caved in at five-on-five the way the Kraken do. Toronto has the high end with Auston Matthews and William Nylander, the better five-on-five profile, and a price that pays plus money for a two-goal margin against a team living on borrowed percentages.
