His xERA sits closer to the mid-4.00 range, while his strikeout ability continues to stand out with a K/9 around 9.5. Chandler has shown the ability to miss bats consistently, and his BB/9 remains manageable at approximately 3.2. The combination of above-average swing-and-miss stuff and solid command gives Pittsburgh the more stable pitching profile heading into this contest.

Brandon Sproat has struggled to produce consistent results, and the recent numbers reinforce that trend. His xERA sits above 5.00, aligning with a 4.98 ERA that has been supported by too much hard contact and too many baserunners. Over his last four starts, three have resulted in a PQS-DIS, including a PQS-1 against Pittsburgh. Extended rest has not produced better results, as he carries a 6.23 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in six starts with six or more days between outings. Those numbers support the elevated xERA and illustrate a pitcher searching for consistency from start to start.

Pittsburgh holds the edge thanks to the stronger current pitching profile. Chandler's superior strikeout rate, lower xERA, and better overall command compare favorably against a Milwaukee starter who continues to battle command issues and ineffective run prevention. With Sproat's recent PQS-DIS trend, elevated BB/9, and difficult home splits. In our opinion the Pirates have the  advantage to leave Milwaukee with a road victory tonight and start this series off with the “W”.
