Arizona +105 over St. Louis

Brandon Pfaadt (RHP – Arizona) – 3.89 ERA

Michael McGreevy (RHP – St. Louis) – 2.92 ERA

5:15 PM EST.Brandon Pfaadt continues to post underlying metrics that support his success, carrying an xERA that sits in line with his 3.89 ERA while striking out hitters at a rate of better than 9.0 K/9. His command has also improved as the season has progressed, with a BB/9 below 2.5, allowing him to stay ahead in counts and limit free baserunners. Pfaadt's combination of strikeouts and control gives him one of the stronger analytical profiles among National League starters.

McGreevy has done an excellent job preventing runs, but several advanced indicators suggest his margin for error is much slimmer. His xERA trends higher than his 2.92 ERA, while his strikeout rate sits in the 7.0 K/9 range, well below Pfaadt's ability to miss bats. McGreevy has relied heavily on contact management, and that approach becomes more difficult against an Arizona lineup that consistently ranks among the better teams at producing hard contact and extra-base hits against right-handed pitching. His BB/9 has remained solid, but the lower strikeout profile leaves more balls in play, increasing the chances for Arizona to generate offense.

The Diamondbacks also bring a disciplined offensive approach into this matchup, consistently forcing opposing pitchers into longer at-bats while limiting chase swings outside the strike zone. That patience pairs well against a contact-oriented starter like McGreevy, who depends on early-count outs to work efficiently. Arizona's lineup has the balance to create scoring opportunities throughout the game rather than relying on one big inning.

The betting market has placed considerable weight on McGreevy's ERA, but the advanced metrics point toward a much more even pitching matchup. Pfaadt owns the superior strikeout profile, the stronger underlying indicators, and the type of command that translates well on the road. Arizona is the play in this spot and and in our opion the pitching advantage needed to leave St. Louis with a victory.
