The Yankees’ “late push” into October came beating up on Baltimore and Chicago. That’s not an achievement, that’s housekeeping. New York’s bullpen? Nearly a full run worse. That’s not October baseball material.

Game One brings Max Fried versus Garrett Crochet. Fried was exceptional — 19 wins, sub-3 ERA, reliable as they come. Crochet was better. He struck out more bats, carried the stronger FIP, and posted the higher WAR. The market has to shade toward New York because it’s Yankee Stadium in October. Wrong side is favored.
