3:30 PM EST. Virginia gets the call here,. The Cavaliers are at home in a game that was originally supposed to be played in Brazil, and that change of venue is meaningful. Instead of dealing with a neutral international setting, Virginia gets the benefit of its own surroundings and the routine that comes with playing at home. That is a much different proposition for an opener, particularly with a veteran team that already understands what its coaching staff expects.

N.C.State deserves respect, but the market is making this look more complicated than it needs to be. The Wolfpack have enough talent to make this competitive, yet Virginia has considerably more continuity on its side. That matters early in the season, when execution and communication can be more important than raw talent. The Cavaliers have built this roster to compete right away, and we trust that experience to show once the game settles down.

We also aren't interested in making too much of the recent series results. The Wolfpack has enjoyed success in Charlottesville, but that doesn't automatically carry over to this matchup. Virginia has developed into a much tougher home team, and the combination of home field, continuity and coaching gives us enough confidence to spot the points.

The number is the final piece for us. We are getting Virginia at home in a favorable setup, and we don't see enough of an advantage on the N.C. State side to make us want to take the points. Virginia is the play tonight bercause we're getting them at a deflated price,
