8:00 PM ET. Marshall has been a bettor’s best friend, going 8–1 ATS over their last nine games. Runs like that attract attention and inflate perception. But much of that success came under Charles Huff, who’s now at Southern Miss with a good portion of last year’s roster. This year’s Herd isn’t the same animal.

Louisiana hasn’t inspired confidence either, winning and covering just once in their last six. That makes the Cajuns a tough sell in the market, while Marshall looks like easy money. But easy money rarely is. Oddsmakers opened UL Lafayette as a small favorite and, despite heavy Herd action, the line remains with the Cajuns as chalk. That’s the signal.

Resumes reinforce the point. Marshall’s recent covers include soft opposition like Eastern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee, along with a Georgia game where the Bulldogs never got out of second gear. Louisiana’s struggles, by contrast, have already been priced in.

The Herd look like the public side, but this number says otherwise. The market wants you on Marshall, but the oddsmakers are pointing to Lafayette. This isn’t last year’s Herd, and it’ll show. Cajuns by a field goal or more.
