9:00 PM ET. Under normal circumstances, this would be the ideal setup to make a case for Kansas — an unranked dog catching a small number at home against a top-tier opponent. But this matchup doesn’t fall under “normal circumstances”.

Connecticut has been a headache for bettors all year, sitting at just 2–5 against the spread. But all that changed recently. Their most recent outing — a decisive 13-point win over a highly respected and top-15 ranked Illinois squad — showed the potency that this team carries, even if their ticket-cashing history hasn’t been strong.

Now look across the floor. Kansas just logged a win over previously unbeaten Tennessee, a result that raised eyebrows and rebuilt some confidence around the Jayhawks after an uneven start to the season. Add in the home court advantage and the historical edge Kansas holds over UConn in recent meetings, and it seems logical that KU would command the action here at plus money. But logic doesn’t cash tickets, value does. And that lies with the visitor on this occasion.

UConn’s baseline level is higher than what their ATS record reflects or what the historical ledger will tell you. This is the kind of spot where the book is inviting Kansas money, even if it doesn’t appear so. UConn elevates their game when it needs to. What it did against BYU and Illinois speaks into that killer instinct that these blue bloods possess and Kansas, when faced with opposition that take them seriously with the potential to beat them, falters. UNC and Duke come to mind. The Huskies have been waiting on this one, and the price is friendlier than it should be.
