Drake -6½ over Robert Morris

7:30 PM ET. This number opened Drake -9½ and has been bet down to -6½, which makes absolutely no sense unless the market has decided to blindly fade a mid-major favorite. We’ll happily step in the other direction.

Drake trailed by 11 in the second half of its opener against Northern Arizona before flipping a switch and closing on a 33–16 run to win by six. That comeback said plenty about the Bulldogs’ poise, and it also gave new head coach Eric Henderson his first win. Henderson inherited a roster that can flat-out score — Jalen Quinn dropped 20 in the opener, Jaehshon Thomas added 15, and Wilguens Jr. Exacte went for a monster 14 points and 12 rebounds. This is a balanced, athletic lineup that can spread the floor and crash the glass, and that’s not something Robert Morris is built to handle.

Drake also hasn’t lost a non-conference home game in years — literally. They’ve ripped off 49 straight at home against non-league opponents, and that dominance isn’t luck. The Knapp Center is a tough gym to walk into, especially early in the season when Drake’s confidence is high and rotations are still a mess for visiting teams.

Robert Morris, meanwhile, was embarrassed in its opener at Iowa, getting blasted 101–69. The Colonials have 12 new players and are still figuring out who can play. That’s not the kind of roster you want to take on the road against a disciplined, veteran Missouri Valley team. Andy Toole has done an admirable job over the years keeping RMU relevant, but this version is a rebuild in every sense. The Colonials might eventually gel, but they’re not close yet — and a 32-point loss followed by a short turnaround trip to Des Moines doesn’t exactly scream “buy signal.”

Line movement is noise here. This isn’t some sharp money scoop; it’s more likely the market chasing an overreaction to one sluggish first half from Drake and a false read on RMU’s experience level. The Bulldogs are the far superior team, they’re at home, and their pace and efficiency will overwhelm a defense that just gave up triple digits.
