Indiana +5½ -107 over Philadelphia
7:00 PM EST. The Pacers are getting five and a half at home tonight, and the number has run away from them for reasons that are already priced in. Philadelphia opened as a 1.5-point favourite and has been steamed to -3.5, with more than 80 percent of spread tickets on the Sixers — but the steam is chasing a health story everyone already knows. Indiana is banged up, yes, but the Pacers are at home for just the second time this season after opening with three of four on the road, and this is still a team scoring 116.5 a night with the third-best assist rate in the league (29.3 per game). Ball movement travels even when bodies don't, and Pascal Siakam at 23.5 points a game gives Indiana a steady half-court anchor against a Philadelphia team that just got knocked around 106-93 in Detroit. The Sixers' own frontcourt is held together with tape — Walker, Fall, Barlow and Hukporti are all out — and Joel Embiid's minutes are still being managed. Five and a half is a lot of points to lay on the road against a team that moves the ball like this.
The swing factor is the backcourt, and it's genuinely uncertain: Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring) and Andrew Nembhard (neck) are both questionable, and Haliburton's 9.5 assists a game are what let Indiana play at the speed it prefers. If he sits, the offence leans even harder on Siakam and a thin rotation, and the number probably should be closer to what the market has already done. But questionable is not out, and the market has already moved two to four points on the possibility — if Haliburton is cleared, this line drifts back toward Indiana before tip. That's the bet at +5.5: you're buying the uncertainty after it's already been paid for, not before.
Indiana's injury list is brutal beyond the guards — Zubac is out, McConnell is out, Sheppard and Furphy are out, and Zubac's absence leaves Indiana thin on the glass against Embiid, who was confirmed available after his rest night in Detroit. Philadelphia has won four straight in this fixture, Tyrese Maxey is scoring 28.8 a night, and the Sixers own a top-five defence. The Pacers also just collapsed 110-102 in Milwaukee on Monday, their second loss in three games, and a 112.1 defensive rating won't contain a Philadelphia lineup with this many scoring options. But a home dog getting five and a half, with the line already steamed past the injury news, is the side with the cushion.
