Play off Series game 3

New York Leads series 2-0

8:00 PM EST. New York has completely flipped the pressure in this series and now heads into this matchup with all of the momentum after taking a commanding 2-0 lead. The Knicks didn’t just win Game 2 — they controlled it physically, defensively and emotionally once the game reached the second half. Their 18-0 third-quarter run completely broke Cleveland’s rhythm and exposed the Cavaliers’ ongoing issues creating efficient offense when the pace slows down in playoff basketball. New York shot nearly 52% from the floor, finished with 32 assists and once again showed how difficult this offense becomes when Jalen Brunson is surrounded by multiple secondary scorers capable of attacking mismatches. Josh Hart’s aggressiveness and Karl-Anthony Towns’ interior presence have added balance Cleveland has struggled to counter.

What stands out most in this series is New York’s defensive discipline. The Knicks held Cleveland to under 39% shooting in Game 2 while limiting the Cavaliers to just nine made threes on 35 attempts. More importantly, New York continues to take away easy transition opportunities and force Cleveland into stagnant half-court possessions heavily reliant on Donovan Mitchell isolation sets. The Knicks rank fifth in the NBA in points allowed and sixth in assists allowed for a reason — this is a connected defensive group that rotates well and rarely gives up clean second chances. Cleveland may have finished the regular season with elite offensive numbers, but playoff basketball has exposed how inconsistent this team can become when perimeter shots stop falling.

The value sits squarely with New York on the money line  the Knicks are simply playing better basketball on both ends of the floor right now. They have now won nine consecutive playoff games while covering in eight of those contests, and the confidence level throughout this roster is obvious. Cleveland continues to struggle against physical defensive teams capable of disrupting ball movement, and the Cavaliers have now dropped three of their last four playoff games overall. With Brunson controlling tempo, Hart and Bridges providing relentless two-way energy and New York consistently winning the toughness battle, the Knicks have every opportunity to win outright again and tighten their grip on this series.
