Oklahoma City +115 over San Antonio
Play off Series game 3
Series Tied 1-1
8:30 PM EST. Oklahoma City answered every question in Game 2 with the exact type of response elite teams are supposed to deliver in the postseason. After dropping the opener, the Thunder are back in the series behind a performance that showed its efficient offense, relentless ball pressure and superior depth. Oklahoma City forced 21 San Antonio turnovers while finishing with 34 assists on 45 made baskets, a reflection of how well this offense operates when the pace and spacing are flowing through Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The MVP candidate looked far more comfortable attacking downhill after a quiet Game 1, and when SGA is consistently collapsing the defense, this Thunder team becomes extremely difficult to defend over four quarters.
The biggest edge for Oklahoma City in this matchup continues to be defensive pressure and transition creation. The Thunder led the NBA in forcing turnovers during the regular season at 16.7 per game and once again disrupted San Antonio’s offensive rhythm throughout Game 2. The Spurs shot efficiently overall, but far too much of their offense came in spurts instead of sustained execution. Oklahoma City’s ability to create extra possessions through steals and offensive rebounds ultimately wore San Antonio down, especially during the decisive fourth-quarter run. The Thunder also continue to get major contributions from their bench, which remains one of the most underrated advantages in this series. Alex Caruso’s impact defensively and as a secondary playmaker completely changed the tone of Game 2 whenever Oklahoma City needed stability.
San Antonio has enjoyed an outstanding season, but this is still a young team facing the league’s most complete defensive group. The Spurs have now dropped five of their last six Western Conference Finals games and have struggled to match Oklahoma City’s intensity late in games when possessions tighten up. The Thunder finished the regular season ranked second in the NBA in points allowed and first in opponent free throws made, two indicators of a disciplined defense that rarely gives opponents easy scoring opportunities. Oklahoma City also enters with momentum after winning 13 consecutive night games following a home victory. With Gilgeous-Alexander settling into the series, the Thunder’s defense dictating tempo and the supporting cast continuing to deliver winning minutes, Oklahoma City is the right side on the money line to take control of the series tonight.
