Ottawa +5½ -110 over Saskatchewan

7:30 PM EST. Saskatchewan enters this matchup with a 2-1 record, but that mark is far more flattering than their actual performances. The Roughriders opened the season with a four-point win over B.C., escaped with an overtime victory over Calgary, and then came back to earth with a loss to Toronto. They were favored by 3½ points at home against the Argonauts last week, and now the market has them laying 5½ points on the road. That's a significant adjustment for a team that could just as easily be sitting at 0-3. Meanwhile, Ottawa's 0-3 record is also misleading. The Redblacks were just two points away from beating Montreal on the road last week and have been more competitive than their record indicates.

The market continues to give Saskatchewan a premium because of its pedigree and reputation. They're one of the CFL's marquee franchises, and bettors are quick to back them based on name recognition. That often creates inflated point spreads, and this week's number appears to be another example. The Roughriders haven't dominated anyone, yet they're being priced as though they've been one of the league's elite teams.

Ottawa may still be looking for its first win, but the Redblacks are playing better than an 0-3 team. They're back at home, they're catching nearly a touchdown, and this line appears to be driven more by perception than performance. In a league where so many games are decided by one possession, taking the points with a desperate home underdog offers plenty of value.
